About Me.
Hi! I’m Rochelle LeVangie and I am the Behaviour Consultant at Spreading L I G H T (LeVangie Behaviour Consulting) Inc. I have 15+ years of extensive experience working and volunteering with children of various developmental capabilities across a variety of settings. I was first introduced to early intervention services in the summer of 2012 when I helped run therapy-oriented play groups out of the local hospital. I was invited to sit in on a home visit and I watched the child and the Interventionist share their magic with one another. I instantly fell in love with the field of early intervention.
After obtaining my Bachelors of Arts with Honours in Psychology from St. Francis Xavier University in 2015, I moved from a rural community in Nova Scotia to Calgary, Alberta. I began working as an Aide for an early intervention program where I gained invaluable experience and knowledge from the Psychologists/Consultants, OTs, SLPs, and PTs that I learned from. In addition, I volunteered at the Rotary Flames House with the Alberta Children’s Hospital and in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the South Health Campus. I quickly found my passion for learning about and understanding human behaviour and interactions.
In 2021, I obtained my Masters of Education in Applied Behaviour Analysis. My program provided me with an in-depth understanding of how all human behavior works, how to analyze behavioural patterns, and the mechanisms in which behavioural change occurs. However, to better understand the complexities and diversity of humans, I make it an active priority to continuously educate myself on responsive and attuned child-rearing, emotional regulation, neurodiversity, trauma, supporting sensory processing, and the like. This knowledge guides my practice to ensure a holistic approach. I strongly believe that children and adults alike are deserving of respectful and healthy interactions.
After graduation, I began working as a Behaviour Consultant for two non-profit organizations where I supported and learned immensely from the Autism and Down Syndrome communities.
When I am not working, I love travelling, being outdoors, staying active, and learning. You can often find me hiking or camping in the mountains or spending time with family and friends!
Let’s work together to see the world through your child’s eyes and support our kiddos in Spreading their L I G H T.
